From ritual to everyday life

The series observes religious traditions as part of community life, rather than as isolated events. Processions move through stone streets and along the waterfront, while a gathering around a laid table and open hearth reveals a more intimate, everyday layer of the same story.

The procession as a shared rhythm

A cross, lanterns, a devotional image and a sculpture are carried through different parts of Vis. The participants’ pace, recurring objects and presence of different generations give the images their rhythm, while the architecture and streets become active parts of the event.

Between public and intimate

Wide scenes in front of the church and by the harbour alternate with quiet interiors of a stone kitchen and church space. In this way, the series connects public gathering with conversation and personal gestures that remain outside the centre of the procession.

Light, objects and space

Strong island sunlight, subdued interior light, fire on the hearth and candle flames shape distinct atmospheres. Stone, wood, metal, fabric and smoke bring the material aspect of the traditions closer, while the movement of people connects the individual scenes into a single documentary whole.
