A digital space led by the work

Vilim Žlender’s personal website was conceived as an extension of his painting practice. Rather than competing with the art, the interface uses a white background, light typography and generous space to give the colours, textures and formats of the paintings the leading role.

Series as the main way through the work

The paintings are organised into series, allowing the practice to be read through connected bodies of work rather than as an unrelated gallery. The main overview introduces each series with a large image, while simple navigation leads to its text and the works it contains.

From the context of a series to a single painting

Each series page pairs the artist’s text with a sequence of works. The overview gives every piece a title, dimensions, medium and year; individual pages enlarge the image and provide a clear route back to the series without competing interface elements.

Biography and news within the same rhythm

A portrait, biography, selected exhibitions, recognition and news are placed within the same restrained visual system. The contact form, email and Instagram provide a direct continuation into conversation, while the portfolio remains focused on the work itself.

A portfolio that can continue to grow

Launched in 2021, the portfolio continues to be updated with new series, works and exhibition news. Its structure preserves the same visual rhythm as the body of work grows, allowing new content to join the whole without changing the basic experience.
